Among other functions, it acts as an advisory body to the French Government, defending the economic interests of the State by overseeing the economic departments of the various embassies, and providing representation in international organisations such as the World Bank or the G20.
In application of the Code Monétaire et Financier, the General Directorate of the Treasury is responsible for managing and publishing the Registre national des gels; the French national asset freezing system.
This system compiles the entities and individuals affected by financial countermeasures whether decided by the United Nations, the European Union or the French Government.
