What is a source?

In Pibisi, a source is an entity or organization that provides AML data about persons (natural or legal) as the ultimate issuers of said information. Pibisi's sources are therefore all official sources of AML data and in no case do they come from other data aggregators.

Types of sources

Based on the characteristics of the entity or organization issuing the data, we distinguish 3 types of sources:

  • Regulators: They include AML data sources as part of a country's regulatory framework and its administrative organization. They typically offer information on PEPs, sanctioned and/or terrorists.
  • International organizations: these are supranational entities with the authority to issue AML data or that may be relevant to AML matters, such as the United Nations. United or Interpol. The types of information they publish usually include international sanctions and other forms of adverse information.
  • Private entities: generally include online media and exclusively provide information in the form of news

It is very common for a source to group its AML data in the form of lists or datasets of people with some characteristic in common, such as, for example, a sanctions program or a certain resolution.
