Regulatory framework
Introduction
Sweden, following the path of its European counterparts, owes its regulatory heritage in terms of money laundering prevention to the work carried out by European Directives in this area. Its main standard in this matter is the Lag (2017:630) on measures against money laundering and financing of terrorism; and to this can be added the various decrees that help implement the standard.
Financial Intelligence Unit
The competent Financial Intelligence Unit in Sweden is the Polismyndigheten finansunderrättelseenhet— Finanspolisen —.

Obligated subjects
The legal framework of Sweden in the field of prevention of money laundering and terrorist financing establishes certain individuals and entities as obliged entities based on the economic activity they carry out.
Among these subjects, credit institutions and banks stand out, as well as casinos, pawnshops, real estate and rental agencies, and those dedicated to the trade of jewellery, metals and precious stones.

Introduction
The regulatory framework for politically exposed persons in Sweden is provided by the Swedish Law, Lag (2017:630) on measures against money laundering and financing of terrorism.
In addition, the list issued by the European Commission pursuant to Article 20 bis of the Directive 2015/849 must be taken into consideration.

Definition of PEP
Sweden establishes that the following positions will be politically exposed persons:
- Heads of State, Heads of Government, Ministers, Deputy Ministers, State Secretaries.
- Members of Parliament.
- Members of the political party board of directors.
- Justices of the Supreme Court, of the Constitutional Court, as well as magistrates of other high judicial bodies.
- Senior officials of audit authorities.
- Members of the Central Bank's Board of Administration.
- Ambassadors and Heads of Mission.
- High-ranking officers of the armed forces.
- Members of the board of administration, management or supervision of state-owned companies.

Duration of PEPs
When politically exposed persons have ceased their functions, the obliged entities will continue applying the measures provided for this type of customers for a minimum period of eighteen months.
