SECO

Description

The Secrétariat d'État à l'économie — SECO — or Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs, is an entity dependent on the Federal Department of Economy, Education and Research of the Swiss Government.

Among its functions is the one related to the implementation of foreign economic policy. With it, they protect and promote the Swiss economy through international cooperation instrumented with bilateral or multilateral agreements, as well as representation in international organisations such as the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.

SECO is also the entity responsible for implementing and adopting the list of sanctions and financial countermeasures of Switzerland. This list includes individuals and entities sanctioned by the United Nations, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe or by the initiative of the Swiss Government.
